As these pictures show Port Chalmers is a great place to be at any time of the year! From Artica Art & Accommodation it's just a short walk up to the Flagstaff Lookout and the Ralph Hotere Sculpture Garden, Oputae, or you can drive out to Aramoana to watch the sunset at the beach… :-)
Autumn's weather has been pretty good so far and many of our guests here at Artica Art & Accommodation were able to explore Port Chalmers & Dunedin on beautiful sunny days!
What an amazing first tourist season we've had (that doesn't seem to be over yet...) – the last 6 months have been incredibly busy, we absolutely loved meeting so many wonderful people from all over the world! Thanks to everybody who left feedback on booking.com – we now have a rating of 9.8 :-) My Table Lamp (made from brass, wire, beads on a Walnut base with a flickering candle light) will be one of the items for sale at the Art Exhibition & Sale at St Leonards School/ Dunedin, 8th & 9th April 2016. Come and see some wonderful artwork and support a great little school :-)
My wooden pens proved popular with our guests and I've recently been working on some new designs
(all priced between $55 and $75). We really enjoyed having lots of lovely people from all over the world stay with us over the last few weeks! And we loved getting feedback from them - Artica Art & Accommodation now has a rating of 9.6 ('exceptional') on booking.com :-)
After months of being busy with other things I finally managed to spend a bit of time in my studio, hurrah!
This is a tealight holder made from pieces of brass decorated with copper leaf, some beads & about 30 metres of copper wire rolled around BBQ skewers on a mahogany base. Freshly baked sourdough bread, bread rolls, toast, homemade organic muesli, Black Forest Ham, cheese, yoghurt, jam, honey, peanut butter, fresh fruit and juice - served in the studio on request for only $15.00 per person! Gluten-free & vegetarian options available
Even though I've been living in New Zealand for so long I am still fond of some German traditions, especially around Christmas!
This Sunday is the first Sunday of Advent - I didn't quite manage to make an Advent wreath but this candle holder will allow us to light the first candle tomorrow, and always an additional one on each of the three following Sundays. And then Christmas is nearly there... :-) I was so lucky to have this amazing view of Aramoana from the plane today!
A great place for long walks along the beach, surfing, fishing, wildlife spotting etc – all this just a short drive away from Artica Art & Accommodation :-) Less than a month to go - ARTICA Art & Accommodation will open on 22.October 2015!!!
We are looking forward to welcoming guests from all over the world to our beautiful house in this lovely part of the world :-) Bookings are now being taken - just click here to find out how to get in touch! |
