Just finished this little table lamp. Made from a fencing sword (or épée to be exact...) guard that has survived many fights, decorated with lots of tiny and not quite so tiny beads. Love sitting at my desk now with the lamp on - makes studying much more pleasant... ;-)
Beautiful sunny day here in Port Chalmers today - perfect for a walk to Boilers Point, just a few minutes away from Artica Art & Accommodation.
A big thank you to all our lovely guests who left a review on booking.com after staying at Artica Art & Accommodation - I just found the 'Guest Review Award' in the mail, our rating is still 9.7 - the highest rating for a B&B in Dunedin :-)
What do you do when all the Whisky is gone and only an empty bottle is left..??? I decided to spend a few (…) hours sticking lots of tiny little beads onto it, found some mahogany & holly and turned it into a tealight holder!
It's not for sale at the moment as my son insists that we keep it but I thought I put up some pictures anyway… :-) These days it sometimes can be challenging to see a bit of beauty in the world... A good reason to create beauty & share it with the world... ;-)
Here are some pictures of the wall clock I made recently using a beautiful piece of Walnut, decorated with beads. How time flies… - exactly one year ago we had our first guests staying here at 'Artica Art & Accommodation'!!! It's been a pleasure to meet so many lovely people from all over the world and I think most of them rather liked it here... - our current rating on booking.com is 9.7 :-)
So if you are planning a trip to Dunedin & are looking for a place to stay get in touch, we'd love to welcome you here in Port Chalmers! Looking for a vase to put some of the lovely spring flowers? I just finished making this one - I used an antique soda stream bottle on a walnut base, petals made from gilt oak and some some small beads for decoration.
Now available at Artica Art & Accommodation in Port Chalmers :-) Recently I've been using a lot of Holly for my handturned wooden pens. Its elegant nearly white colour contrasts beautifully with other types of wood - and it works really well with gold or copper leaf as well (real 23 karat gold leaf that is, not gold paint..!).
Winter has finally arrived here in Dunedin - luckily our studio is well insulated and warm & cosy even at this time of the year :-) Yesterday we went for a walk to the Cedar Farm Reservoir - a real winter wonderland just a few minutes away from Artica Art & Accommodation!
